Brief Itinerary

Day 1 Granada

Begin your trip in Nicaragua's oldest colonial city. Granada’s charm resides within its people, architecture and natural surroundings.  We will stay in a colonial home in downtown Granada, where we can enjoy exploring the city’s markets and local businesses. In Granada we will do a service activity with La Esperanza, Granada

Day 2-3 La Catarina and Laguna de Apoyo

First we'll travel to La Catarina, a viewpoint on top of a mountain, then to small towns where the best handicrafts are sold.  We'll finish the day surrounded by the geographical beauty of Laguna de Apoyo, a lagoon formed in the center of an inactive volcano crater.   Swimming, relaxing and an included buffet dinner and breakfast is all available at our lakeshore home. For an additional cost, we can charter a catamaran.

Day 4-5 Ometepe Island

Head inland from the Pacific towards the dock of San Jorge and board a ferry on Lake Nicaragua to Ometepe Island. This unspoiled island paradise is formed from the lava flowing in between two volcanoes, Maderas (1394m) and Concepción (1610m). Spend time exploring the coffee farm, hiking a volcano, swimming in a natural spring, and walking on the many nature trails. Here we will stay at an organic coffee farm cooperative. You can buy a bag or two of coffee to bring with you, it's really the most delicious there is!

Day 6-8 San Juan del Sur
Relax in the quiet surf town of San Juan del Sur where our locally-owned hotel is 1/2 block from the Pacific ocean.  Here we'll have many activities to choose from, from relaxing, horse riding, taking Spanish classes, yoga, surf trips, and a canopy zip-line tour.
